SFLIS Minutes - May 19, 2004 - Yes, we have minutes again! It's been a few weeks. - We start by discussing the importance or semicolons and the dangers of runon sentences. - Are there any movies that we can go to see as a group this summer? Spider Man 2? Alien vs Predator? - SF News of the Week: Is Star Trek over? Will Enterprise be cancelled because of low ratings? Some people say yes, some say no. 50% chance, maybe? - The correct way to read The Onion is from lower right to upper left. It makes so much more sense that way. - Troy: If you want to see the Iliad on screen, find a different movie. Other than that, it's pretty good. This, of course, leads to a discussion of The Iliad and how the characters are portrayed in the original vs. in the movie. - As for other movies, they're talking about a live action Tekken movie. Battle Royale - from Japan. Too violent for a kids movie, kind of cheesy, very entertaining. They got tired of subtitling towards the end. But overall, it's pretty good for something bought on ebay. - A birthday card to sign is passed around. The person having the birthday doesn't know the people signing it, but that's ok. - We interrupt this meeting for a nice belching demonstration. - Assuming the room reservation is approved, the dates for the SWAMP anime showings for summer will be June 13 and 27, July 11 and 25. The vote at the last show was about 50-50 whether we should stay in Poppajohn or go somewhere that allows food in the rooms. - Catwoman. That's another possibility for a SFLIS movie excursion. A scantily clad woman in leather. But does she look good in it? People who've seen pictures of her say no. - They're coming out with a video game featuring female wrestlers. - We end the meeting with some random talk about D&D.
