SFLIS Minutes - March 31, 2004 - Do we have any topics this week? No. Ok, then how about this: How many SFLIS officers does it take to screw in a light bulb? - Anime Detour was last weekend. Maybe 1000-1200 people were there, pretty good for their first year. It was right across from the Mall of America. Lots of people in costume. The video rooms got a rating of 3 crutches out of 4. Pertty lame, mostly dubbed commercial stuff and an "Asian media access" room. The cosplay emcee had a few problems with pronunciation and with heckling. There was a well-stocked dealers room and a nice consuite. Overall, pretty good for a first year. - Next is.... DemiCon. Less than 5 weeks away. April 30-May 2. - "We have a thing for a thing and stuff." "Do you think you could make that a little more vague?" Never mind, we don't have it after all. - DemiCon's prereg deadline and hotel room rate deadline is April 1. - People are doing homework at the meeting today. - Bugei Tessen, a metal Japanese fan that was used as a weapon. You can kill things with it. Yes, the Japanese invented the "fan club." - The Anime Event at the IMU, how about doing it in November? We can reserve the rooms a little early. This event goes by the code name "Marty Gras." - The secretary had to leave early, so that's all for this week.
