SFLIS Minutes - February 18, 2004 - We start out with some conversation about magic items in role playing games, folding boats, and blue dinosaurs. What can you do with a folding boat? What IS a folding boat? A boat that knows origami? An origami boat made out of paper so you can't get it wet? Does it come with a folding table and chairs? - We've been asked to have a table at the student activities fair. We probably will, watch some videos like The Two Towers, maybe bring some games. - Now people are talking about an x-rated version of Soul Calibur. Not really, but it sounds like it if you take the words out of context. - Puni Puni Poemi is so horrible it's great! - Gamicon is this weekend. Are we doing anything to spread SFLIS there? On overhearing that question, someone at one of the other tables in the restaurant says "WHAT!?" There will be a Mindbridge table there, but probably nothing for SFLIS. - From The Onion, an article from Storm Lake, Iowa about the presidential caucus which might actually be true. And an article about the new Mach 5 razor. The Mach 2 and Mach 3 weren't enough, so they're going all the way to 5 now. But where will they put the 5th blade? How about having it at a right angle to the others? And you can use red shaving cream so you don't notice the blood. How about putting the blades on a belt sander and running them continuously? How about making a smaller version of that and calling it an "electric razor?" - A flashlight is passed around. You recharge it by shaking it. It has a magnet that moves up and down and charges up a capacitor. Shaking it reminds people of something that's not appropriate to print in the minutes. But it gets a lot of laughs. And if you put two flashlights together, they light each other up. - Is Arthur C. Clarke still alive? We think he is but aren't 100% certain. - And we end with a discussion of a portable personal pressure suit for climbing Mt. Everest.
