SFLIS Minutes - June 18, 2003 - What is the quality of the food at Pizza on Dubuque? The results aren't in yet. We WILL be meeting there next week. - We realize that this is our last meeting at the Mill, so most of us decide to order food. - Stargate's new season was pretty good, kind of imitated Star Wars, had a lot of other SF references and in jokes. Looks like this really is the last season. Will they do a sequel? And if so, what will they call it? - The Hulk starts Friday. How good (or bad) will it be? The Matrix is either awesome or ok, depending on who you ask. You have to pay attention to know what's going on. Lord of the Rings: Who do women think is hotter - Legolas or Aragorn? The DVD of the Two Towers (the one that comes out in November) will have an additional 43 minutes on it. Speaking of Lord of the Rings, we discuss some of the differences between the books and the movies. Terminator 3 is coming out sometime. - What else is going on? A new Battlestar Galactica with Starbuck as a woman? Will it include the Starbucks coffee logo? - We talk about various other SF series like X-Men and Transformers. - http://robo-t.com. Has cut-out patterns for making robots out of paper, cardboard, or whatever. - Will there be 4 or more Lord of the Rings movies? They're very popular and someone will probably be willing to write scripts for more of them. Starship Troopers 2, coming soon to a theater near you. A live action Transformers movie. Think they'll be able to do it without using any CGI? Puppet Masters was partly filmed in Des Moines, but mostly in California, with mountains in the background of some of the scenes. - The grenade from the SFLIS storage locker is passed around. Would you be able to take it in your carry-on luggage on a plane? Or would it be better to put it in someone ELSE's luggage? - We hear some amusing engineering stories from KCRG. - And after some more random discussion, we're done.
