SFLIS Minutes - April 23, 2003 - Articles from The Onion are passed around. - We're tripping to the movies in May. We're going to see X-Men 2, probably the weekend after Demicon, probably on Saturday unless we do it some other time. Is that weekend Mothers Day weekend? Mothers Day isn't on the university calendar. - Demicon is next weekend (May 2-4). Everyone should go. But if for some reason you can't go, we're doing video games in C125 Poppajohn on Sunday the 4th. - This Sunday (April 27) is the SWAMP 8th anniversary show. May 11 is the last show of the semester. - Mindbridge meeting on May 7. Mindbridge picnic on May 24. Sometime in the future there will be a locker organizing party. - We might do Children of Dune for our three summer movie nights. - This is the 50th anniversary of the publication of the discovery of DNA. What foods would be appropriate for a party to celebrate this? We try to come up with some double-helix shaped foods. Nutrigrain bars? - Tremors, the series is going to replace Farscape. Maybe. - We have a discussion of animation. We start off with some comments about a fully-clothed centerfold in Newtype magazine (the clothes are probably just painted on). Then we move on to Sailor Moon, Power Puff Girls, kindertarteners fighting crime, then end up with Ralph Bakshi's 'Wizards,' then 'Tune.' - Roar is a new SF series coming out. Looks kind of like a Beastmaster type of thing. - Star Wars episode 3 comes out in 2005 probably. If they don't get all the details right will they do an episode 3 1/2? - There's not a whole lot going on right now, so that's it for this week.
