SFLIS Minutes - October 23, 2002 - ICON happened last weekend. Over 450 people attended. Might be close to 500, but the final count isn't in yet. Gaming was separated from the rest of the con, in the space where ICON was last year. And there was a chocolate ceremony, anime, art auction, etc. Did anyone get arrested at the con, like they did at....? There was apparently nobody staffing the consuite at 6am Sunday. But how many people noticed? - What should we show at our movie night in November? Shrek, Lord of the Rings, Army of Darkness? Looks like it's going to be Army of Darkness. Should we watch it in French? - SFLIS elections are November 6, the day after those "other" elections. We need some candidates. Ok, none of the current officers are refusing to run, so that's a start. Is there anyone else? Yes, Megan has agreed to run for something. - We have a few words from our president: "Do it!" "Slap him around like the ho he is." "He does a little dance when you pet him." "Give me the meat loaf." Was John giving him some interesting chemicals at work today? Ok, he's playing one of those pocket virtual pet video games, or something like that. - There will be anime this weekend. Sunday 1-8pm, in the Poppajohn Business Bldg. - A couple possibilities for December: SFLIS video game fest. And we'll go see the Two Towers, assuming it opens in December. - Josh will get some bananas from an electric slot machine. Ok, this is the video game again. - We talk about some possibilities for really small cheap apartments in Iowa City. Then about stripping, which brought up some disturbing mental images, so we changed the topic again. Will it snow tonight? - Returning to the elections, we need to replace the other half of our co-president. If you get elected to the position, you'll need to change your name to Josh. Or maybe Megan. Or some combination thereof. Or maybe not. - We end the meeting with some comments about drinking at ICON, the Iron Bartender contest, and carrot juice mixers.
