SFLIS Minutes - November 27, 2002 - Not a whole lot going on today. - Should cons offer discounts to certain people? Like people who attend a certain number of concom meetings or put a lot of effort into helping out? Not just our local ones, but cons in general. - Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, a day on which we celebrate the murder of a poor defenseless innocent bird and then feast on its corpse. Speaking of which..... A recipe for Turducken (a chicken in a duck in a turkey) is passed around. It's illustrated! You can find it at http://ismybrain.com/~jsalmon/ turducken.html. That page also has links to the Turducken song and a recipe for whole stuffed camel. - A couple articles from the Onion are passed around: "US Deploys Very Special Forces to Iraq." Operation Great Job, the objective of which is to "force Saddam Hussein to comply with the UN weapons inspectors... and to provide America's Very Special Forces with a positive, rewarding esteem building experience." And then there's "Make a Hand Turkey." Illustrated with instructions such as "Cut off your hand" and "Cauterize your stump by...." - We're going to see Lord of the Rings on Dec. 18. Anime showing on Dec. 8, video game fest on Dec. 15. - Wylde Nept will be at the Mill on Nov. 30. 9pm, we think. Everyone in Wylde Nept works at Channel 9. - And we spend some time talking about why University Heights will never be taken over by Iowa City. - And we end with some talk about a thin blue line on a monitor screen and the possible causes of it, and the merits of CRT screens vs. flat-screen monitors.
