SFLIS Minutes - November 6, 2002 - There was a meeting last week, but no minutes. - Results of the election: It's a little unusual, but the presidential party increased its representation in both houses of congress. But enough of that. Now it's time for the really important election - the SFLIS one: Everyone was running unopposed except for the scapegoat. But that's ok. We can always use two scapegoats. Co-presidents: Josh Goldsborough and Megan Harper Treasurer: Dennis Kintzman Secretary: David Leach Mascot: Rhianna Maakestad Co-Scapegoats: Jon Maakestad and Josh Elliot SEx Director: Lindsay (Josh E's owner) Official sex goddess. (Someone suggested that to be inclusive, we should have a male sex goddess next time.) Film Critic: Tim Rush (like the band, only cooler) The Charitable One: Aaron Oehring (one most likely to have a chair) Pinball Coordinator: Marty Milder Mascot Keeper: Michele Maakestad Sports Critic: Tracie Michlin The Questioning One: Peter Wezeman And so, everyone at the meeting was elected to something. Voting was almost unanimous for all positions, most had only one or two 'nay's because we didn't want everything to be COMPLETELY unanimous. Electing Jon Maakestad as scapegoat, there was 1 yea, 1 nay, and everyone else abstained, so Josh used his presidential privelege to decide it. - Lord of the Rings, the Two Towers, opens Wednesday Dec. 18, and we're going. Megan's organizing it. Harry Potter opens on November 15, probably. Does anyone want to go to it? - Anime showing this Sunday, Nov. 10, 1-8pm, C125 Poppajohn. For the Nov. 24 and Dec. 8 shows, there will probably be new anime that premiered this fall in Japan. - On Dec. 15 we will probably be having a video game fest, also in room C125. - There's a Gamicon meeting at 1pm Saturday the 9th at Maakestads. Come if you want to help out, volunteer, run something. Hotel room rates for Gamicon have dropped from $91 to $80 a night. Contact Josh Goldsborough or Jon Maakestad if you want to help or run games. - Spider Gaming is a new game store in Iowa City, next to Happy Joe's. They will be having a LAN tournament of Counterstrike. - Did you hear about the Jedi knight who wears glasses and has a pocket protector full of pens? He was seduced by the dork side of the Force. - We end by sharing some amusing obversations about yesterday's election.
