SFLIS Minutes - March 20, 2002 - We try to decide who's going to call the meeting to order. - There was a movie night last week. It was pretty bad, but in a way it was pretty funny because it was so bad. Evolution. - A little discussion comparing Bakeshi's Lord of the Rings movie with Wizards, Mighty Mouse, and Heavy Metal. - Does anyone know who got inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Monday? - A new piece of retro technology is shown to the group. It's made of a substance called 'paper,' and this 'paper' is covered with patterns of ink. We think it's called a 'book.' So what type of equipment do you play it on? - Blade 2 opens Friday. We might go see it after the meeting next week. Free tickets to the Time Machine were available from the Daily Iowan for about a week before the movie opened. - Space Angel and Clutch Cargo: worst animated series of all time? For the most part, nothing moved except for a small part where their lips were. - It's possible to tell if something has Nutri Sweet in it just from the smell. It's possible to tell what the alcohol in a drink was made from just from the taste. - SWAMP has money from the university and needs to spend it. SFLIS has money too. - The SWAMP anniversary show is April 28. Commercial VHS tapes will be given away. Lots of them. A large number were donated, and everyone who comes will be able to take one home with them. The leftovers will go to AnimeIowa. A few might end up in the SWAMP library. - An ICON book exchange? Bring in a book and get a raffle ticket (one of the ones from the storage unit that nobody knows what to do with), and you can redeem it for a random book. Who knows what we'll end up with if we do that. - That's it for this week.
