SFLIS Minutes - June 12, 2002

- There's no SFLIS movie night this month.  Next month's movie night will
  be on the 10th, after the Mindbridge meeting which is after SFLIS.
  We will be showing Galaxy Quest.
  Now's the time to start thinking of ideas for August.
- Here's something scary:  Wonder Twins, the movie.
  "Wonder twin powers - activate!"  Evidently it's going to be live action,
  not animated.
- Now we talk about things to do with Jar Jar.
- Let's start the meeting.
  We should advertise for our September movie night.  And for ICON (but don't
  mention the alcohol), and for Gamicon.
  And for SFLIS itself, and put a map on the flyers showing the location of
  the Mill.
  We could make separate booze and non-booze flyers for ICON.
  We have a display case reserved for August.
  We can make fortune cookies to pass out to the students.
  Let's see if each of us can come up with 10 sf-related fortunes and email
  them to Linda.
- Anyone know where you can get citric acid or some sort of concoction that
  bugs will eat which will give them gas so they pop, so they die without
  spreading their eggs all over?  Pop the pinata instead of smashing it.
- A combined ICON/Gamicon flyer will be going out soon.
- We have a discussion about inconsistancies between the current Star Wars
  movies and the originals.
- Things SFLIS can do.
  Can SFLIS sponsor a fiction contest?
  SFLIS laser tag at Planet X.
  A 'Ways to kill _____' contest at ICON, with a different character each
  year.  This year's can be Jar Jar.
  Polo with bumper cars and golf balls while playing laser tag.
- The AnimeIowa prereg deadline is....sometime in the future.  We're
  guessing July.
  An AnimeIowa flyer prototype with no dates and an incorrect address is
  passed around.  Don't worry, it will be fixed before it's sent out.
