SFLIS Minutes - July 31, 2002

- Who's on the concom for ICON.  We try to guess, since nobody at the
  meeting is 100% sure.  But that's ok because we can always ask at the....
- Mindbridge meeting next week after SFLIS.
- We're looking for events to draw people into gaming with us, getting new
  students to join us.
- SF news of the week is passed around.  For the first time in who knows how
  long, it doesn't start with Buffy news.
- We have a role playing game professional in our midst.
- Now we talk about the benefits of having letters after your name, like
  MCSE.  PhD.  Etc.
- At the anime show on the 28th, a bunch of strange people came in for the
  movie at the end.  Some of them didn't show up until the movie was halfway
  over.
  The next anime show might be Sept. 8, but no room has been reserved yet.
- The AnimeIowa hotel is sold out, but there are others nearby.
- We need some info to give Michele so she can make a SFLIS flyer.
  We spend a few minutes coming up with stuff - meeting time and location,
  SFLIS/SWAMP Fest (we might have one sometime in the next 6-8 months),
  movie nights (we'll say they're private showings for members, just to
  avoid any licensing problems (but we won't object if other people happen
  to walk in (and if they do it often enough, they'll meet the requirements
  for being members))).  We'll also mention the local cons, although we
  need to be careful about how we describe our relationship with them.
- Goldmember has lots of cameos, lots of silliness, lots of laughs.
  The Two Towers opens Dec. 18.
- SFLIS movie night is August 14.
- As usual, we end the meeting with some random discussion, then everyone gets
  up and leaves.
