SFLIS Minutes - July 24, 2002

- Some templates for the SFLIS membership cards are passed around.  All have
  the SFLIS logo with catchy sayings like 'I'm a member and proud of it!'
  and 'SFLIS - Catch it!' and 'Let me tell you how to get SFLIS!'  and many
  more.  We'll probably vote on which one(s) to use sometime in August.
  The question was asked:  if you get pulled over, can you show this instead
  of your license?
- We're still waiting to hear about our table for the university's Weeks of
  Welcome.  We have the display case and some stuff to put in it.  The stuff
  is on the SFLIS desk, hidden behind some books.  And nobody ever steals
  books from the SFLIS desk.  Or if they take one, they leave two more to
  replace it.
- We still can't get into our website but we're working on it.  One of these
  days we'll find out what the usercode and password are.
- On the 3rd Tuesday of August, there will be a discussion of Jack Chalker's
  'Midnight at the Well of Souls' at Barnes & Noble.
- Spirited Away on DVD is at the Coralville post office right now, and it
  will be shown at the anime show on the 28th.  1-8pm, S181 Poppjohn.
  An email is passed around, says there are reports about too much of a red
  tint to it, but it can be corrected by adjusting the color settings on
  your.....whatever you're playing it on.
- Is it possible to get a room in Poppajohn with a big screen and video
  projector for a video game fest?  We'll look into it.
- There are rumors of an anime con in the area a month from now.
- And some miscellaneous stuff to end the meeting:
  There's supposed to be a big meteor collision 19 years from now.
  The Epic level handbook for D&D 3rd edition is out.
  Have all the stargates in Stargate been destroyed?
  Samples of the membership cards are given to anyone who wants them.
  And a lot of bad SFLIS jokes.
