SFLIS Minutes - February 27, 2002 - We decide not to discuss homosexual urges at the meeting. - The Maakestads brought our newest member with them today. - Digital media devices and new standards that will make everything you buy today obsolete! Copy protection! Only communicating with devices that are properly 'registered!' And some people think this will be an improvement? - We hope there will be a movie night on March 13 and April something (whenever the 2nd Wednesday is). Maybe Evolution, maybe something else. Galaxy Quest in Thermian? Barbarella, Delicatessan, High Crusade, Earth Girls are Easy, Evil Dead, Army of Darkness. Or get 3 or 4 TVs together and show all the director's cuts of Blade Runner, maybe each one in a different language. Croching Tiger Hidden Dragon, or a French movie about angels that nobody knows the title of for sure, although it's something like 'Les Viste Ouers.' Josh wasn't allowed to see Evolution last summer because he was cloistered at a boy scout camp and wasn't allowed to go to Iowa City. - Queen of the Damned is a pretty bad vampire movie. All you need to improve it is to put some spaceships in there to blow up. Blade 2, which will probably be a better vampire movie, is coming out sometime. - We take a poll. If they move the Barnes & Noble book discussion to a different night, which night would work best? So far Tuesday has the most votes, but Thursday and Friday are still in the running. - We're going to IPTV this Saturday and will arrive during the Red Green show. How about showing the Red Green movie for our movie night? - Star Wars opens on May 16. - SAGA is meeting this weekend. - There's a con in Grinnell. So you'd better watch out for him. Ok, a con is in Grinnell. Akane's in Grinnell? There's a gaming convention in Grinnell. - We've turned in our budget request to the university. - The end.
