SFLIS Minutes - December 18, 2002 - Lord of the Rings, Coral Ridge Mall, 8:15 tonight. Tickets are passed around, people pay their $7. There are 16 of us going. We discuss how the book compares with the first movie. One of the people here already saw the Two Towers earlier today, but he's going again tonight. It must be good. - Our next meeting will be Jan. 8, since Christmas and New Years Day are both on Wednesdays. Or is the Mill open on Jan. 1? Should we come here anyway on the 25th, even though it's closed? We ask the waiter - The Mill is closed on Jan. 1. Officially, our next meeting is Jan. 8. There's a possibility that we might do some kind of informal thing before then, maybe a new years party or something. If we can decide on it before then. - Creighton is here (he wanted me to make a note of that). - Marty is looking for events to avoid when scheduling the spring semester's anime shows. - We're doing past, present, and future business now. Demicon is officially adding anime as a regular event. Talk to Megan if you have any ideas. She's the department head. - Now we talk about people who are anal retentive and control freaks. - Is it fun to watch people overdose on gaming? How about making this a topic for discussion on Jan. 8? You'd think that gamers with no dating experience wouldn't care if Gamicon was on Valentines Day, but there have been a couple complaints about it. So this year we'll find out who the real hard core gamers are. But it is in a nice hotel, so people can bring their significant others if they want. - If you want a video clip of Leonard Nimoy singing "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins," email Lynda. It's a 4 MB file. - Cathy Klessig is officially coming to Gamicon. Which is good, since she's already mentioned in the flyer. - Once again, the next official SFLIS meeting is Jan. 8 but we might plan something unofficial before then. - The University of Iowa calendar is completely agnostic and doesn't have Easter on it. Which is a bit of a problem if you're trying to schedule something for late March or April, since about 3/4 of the students go away for that weekend. - Somebody here had a birthday recently but he won't tell us when it was. - Ok, now we're done.
