SFLIS Minutes - December 11, 2002 - Josh is dead, Tim's undead, and Megan is dying. - Lots of interesting news articles are passed around. Also some examples of bad Engrish from Japan. - Josh says he has rabid goat monkeys. - We're going to the Lord of the Rings on Wednesday the 18th. Probably the 9pm show, and probably at Coral Ridge. Or maybe Sycamore. Or maybe the really cool one near Hoopeston, IL. Ok, that last one is a little far for a Wednesday, but maybe later.... It looks like it will be Coral Ridge this time. - On Sunday the 15th from 1-8pm, C125 Poppajohn, we're having a video game fest. We'll use two cordless mice to play combat Solitaire on the big screen! Or maybe not. We'll be playing....whatever people happen to bring. MIght be showing some really bad videos too. The doors will be locked, the lights will be off, and you'll need to use the secret knock to get in. Or not. - Most of this winter will be in 2003, since it doesn't officially begin until Dec. 21. That's why it's still cold in February. There's this thing called the 'solstice' on the 21st. - Did Hitler die on the same date he was born on? And why would someone who looks like Hitler to begin with want to grow the same type of moustache? - The Gamicon mailing is out. And there's a Gamicon contact list without any contact info, but there's a way to look it up. And we discuss the possibility of an anime/video room for Gamicon. No decision on that yet. - Spirited Away. metacritic.com (not sure of the URL) collects and correlates movie reviews. Spirited Away got 99% positive reviews. So why is it only playing on the coasts? It also has a chance of being nominated for best animated film. - Devil ducks, throwing away the body of a devil duck. What are we talking about here? Now we're talking about people talking about things out of context and having conversations about completely different things without realizing it. - More ideas for Gamicon: Hikaru no Go anime marathon, and a Go tournament. Or a Linux install tournament. One hour to do a clean install and set up a web server with as many services as possible running. - That's it for this week.
