SFLIS Minutes - August 28, 2002 - We need to reserve a room somewhere for TICC skit rehearsals. Once/week between now and ICON. - Our waitress has the hiccups today. She needs a good scare. We could try to scare her by telling her that we're normal. Although we might have trouble convincing her. - The president's here so we can start the meeting. - We have a display case in the IMU right now, and there's stuff in it. We have it for a week, so come and check it out. - We got an email saying there's a problem with the finance clause in our constitution, says it needs to be changed for us to continue to be recognized as a student group. It didn't say exactly what was wrong, but we'll find out the wording they want us to use and make the necessary changes. Student group regonition forms are due in 2 weeks. - People are ordering food now. - AnimeIowa happened. Unofficial official registration count is 1280. Somebody is playing 'Yellow Submarine' on the jukebox now. AnimeIowa will happen again next year. Lots of costumes, they get better every year. They had to go out and buy another bag of chips for the consuite. A substance of questionable legality was found in someone's hotel room Saturday night. "We all live in a yellow submarine. Yellow submarine, yellow submarine.." - We have dates for the SWAMP anime shows for this fall, but no room yet. But the form has been submitted. The dates, unless they change, are Sept. 8 and 22, Oct. 6 and 27, Nov. 10 and 24, Dec. 8. And maybe the 15th. - ICON is October 18-20. You can preregister through Labor Day. - Sony has announced that they're discontinuing production of Betamax VCRs. Yes, they are still making them, but this will be the last year. - Mindbridge meeting after SFLIS next week. Movie night 2 weeks from now. What movie should we show? Final Fantasy, Delicatessan, Demolition Man, Earth Girls are Easy. We could MST3k Demolition Man. Show The Hidden Fortress and Star Wars, and spot the parallels. We decide to put that on the list for October. Of course, the true test of a movie is how well it translates to pinball. The Addams Family was one of the best pinball games ever made, and the movie isn't bad either. We go over the plots of Delicatessan, Demolition Man, and Final Fantasy. Roll a D3 to decide. Ok, didn't have a 3-sided die so just used an ordinary 6-sided one. Delicatessan wins. - Is anyone interested in a SFLIS party at Marty's? - ICON will have a video room, anime room, and possibly the Rocky Horror Picture Show. - The Sept. 8 SWAMP show will have a vote to pick the new dubbed series to show. - We're done.
