SFLIS Minutes - April 24, 2002 - We try to figure out how many members we have, how many active members we have, and how many hours we put in at our desk in the IMU, and how many annual meetings we have. We decide that SifFest, SWAMP Fest, and probably Gamicon Lite qualify. Not sure if we can count ICON and Gamicon or not. We could say that we have SFLIS alumni get-togethers at the cons. But we won't be referring to them as SEx meetings because that would raise too many questions. - A tenative anime schedule for Demicon is passed around. - People talk about their sensitive jobs. - We decide to start the meeting. - At Weekend in Ravensbluff there were 20 judges, 10 attendees, and 25 tables. One reason for the low attendance could be that Living City cost a few extra bucks this time. There was also a high-level module that had the most magic ever given out at an RPGA table. - The monetary disbursement for people who helped with the D&D event back in 2000. Still haven't figured out how to do it. Need a university-approved way to spend it, or we could buy some goods from a university-approved vendor and distribute them. - The SWAMP 7th anniversary anime show is this Sunday, the 28th. 1-8pm, C125 Poppajohn Business Bldg. Will be giving away lots of stuff to members and diddly squat to non-members. Memberships will be available for $2. Hope to have a room for the summer shows by sometime next week. Trying for late May for the first show. We have a room for a SWAMP show on May 5, but Marty will be at Demicon that weekend. We may have a volunteer running the show. Anybody interested in using the video projector for playing games? - An Anime Central con report from the two people from here who went to it. One had a good time, one was bored with it. Both agreed that it had its share of problems, the major ones being the parking ($10/day and still hard to find a space) and the crowding. The line for the masquerade was very long (both in time and actual length) and they ended up moving it outside for a while. On the other hand, the meeting rooms were bigger than in previous years and there was actually room to sit in the panels and video rooms. Some of the costumes were pretty good and there was a nice, well-stocked dealers room. - Now we move on to the Faces of Death videos with Barney and Jar Jar. Or a Jar Jar in a blender webpage. Star Wars 90210. And how big is Yoda's light saber. And other speculation about episode 2. And then there were some random conversations. - One last item of new business: There might be a Mindbridge committee meeting after SFLIS next week.
