SFLIS Minutes - April 17, 2002 - There's a band practicing in the next room. Trumpets, trombones, etc. So everybody talk real loud, ok. - 'Kick-ass' movie for our movie night last week. Great, awesome, funny. - We're going to Star Wars on May 16. If you want to come, you need to get your money to Josh at least a week ahead of time. - The SWAMP anniversary show is April 28. Flawed anime flyers were passed around. - There's a new Gamicon website. It has cows and grass. More content will be added later. Like maybe an event submission form. Might be time for one, since it's less than a year till the con. Other suggestions were made for programs, registering events, etc. - We toss around some ideas of what to do with the SFLIS website if none of us ever get access to update it. - Demicon is coming up. May 3-5. Demicon 13 with a horror theme. - AnimeIowa had a staff meeting last weekend. It will happen Aug. 23-25 or sometime around then. Last full weekend in August, anyway. Some more guests have been confirmed, including a voice actress, but nobody here could remember the name. Should be info on the webpage, though. Same hotel as last year. No guest of honor banquet. Bigger dealers room, kind of L-shaped. They have a budget this year and no big debt to pay off like they did last year. - There's a small anime con in Chicago this weekend. Ok, not so small. It's Anime Central. - May's movie night will be Star Wars on Thursday the 16th. June's will be Galaxy Quest. - In 2 weeks we'll have an election for a new SEx director, since our current one is no longer Ex. Anyone interested? We come up with a list of all former members we can think of who have moved away from the area. We'll tell them that they're candidates, but not until after the election. - In Seattle, two people have been camped out in front of a theater for Star Wars for over 100 days. They're going for a world record. - Damon Knight died a couple days ago. - The biggest thing that's happened to SF in 50 years: Jason X. And now we think of ways to punish the person who made us get quiet and pay attention so he could announce that. - There's a gamicon flyer! It has a cow theme for the background. - Another guy died a couple days ago. He was in Love Boat. What was his name? Robert Urich. How long has Hollywood Squares been on? Since the 70s at least. Maybe even since the 60s. Is Walter Cronkite still alive? - We're done. It's getting hard to hear. What? It sounds like the band is going to be pretty good, though.
