SFLIS Minutes - September 19, 2001

- Dahls!
- There's an anime show Sunday the 23rd, S207 Poppajohn, 1-8pm.
- Tonight, an hour and a half from now, there will be a discussion of
  Zodiac at Barnes & Noble.
- We will be having movie nights the 2nd Wednesday of the month.  If we had
  one this month, it would have been last week.
  We will decide what to show sometime.  SF porn to attract more people?
  What kind of people do we want to attract?  Porn has been done before
  by SFLIS, many years ago.   That should be 'shown,' not 'done.'
  We'll put out some fliers.
  How about a 5-minute SFLIS promo video to show as a trailer at the anime
  shows?  Or not.  With a lot more women than SFLIS actually has saying
  "I just LOVE SFLIS!"  Or with a cell phone:  "SFLIS is the only thing that
  makes me put my cell phone down!"
  Maybe get some help from Student Video Productions?  Something cheesy would
  be good.
- The Devil's DP Dictionary is passed around.
- For those who are still students, the Acedemic Quiz Club is holding an
  intramural tournament.
- Minnesota Renaissance festival is going on.
- Buffy is starting soon.
- ICON is coming up.  Registration is now $40.
  Oct. 12-14, Four Points Sheraton hotel, 525 33rd Ave SW in Cedar Rapids.
  Guests include L.E. Modesitt, Denise Garner, Dennis Lynch.
  The guy from the Invisible Man might show up, but if he does, you probably
  won't notice.
- On Dec. 8, there will be an appreciation party for those who helped with
  the D&D World Tour.
- An Initial-D book is passed around.  There's an origami car with wheels
  that turn.
- Does anyone know the username to get into the SFLIS website?  All we have is
  the password......
- Production of War of the Worlds movie has been suspended because of the
  attacks.
- Fellowship game day at legends this weekend.  "A Plea from Beyond the Grave"
  and "Pilgrimage."
- Winter Fantasy is at the end of January.
- We show off some of the things we have with us that aren't allowed on planes
  any more.  Letter opener, swiss army knife, box opener, etc.
- At ICON this year you'll be able to play games, eat, and drink at the same
  time.
  There may be a "Throw Josh in the pool" game.
- The Maakestads are going to learn Klingon so their kid will grow up speaking
  it and have to learn English as a second language.
