SFLIS Minutes - September 5, 2001 - Nothing's happening so far. Ok, the meeting hasn't started yet. But there's an ICON meeting going on. Lots of people are here, maybe to avoid being elected? - SWAMP anime show on Sunday the 9th, S207 Poppajohn Business Admin. Bldg. 1-8pm. - Kurt Vonnegut "kicked ass." He was at the IMU this week, in case you missed it. Lots of fun, but a very long line and some people were turned away. - Mindbridge meeting Saturday the 15th, Shelter #4 in Upper City Park, Iowa City. There will be food there - hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, pop. Bring something to share if you want. No alcohol allowed, according to the city. Aiming to start at 5pm. - ChakaCon is this weekend at the Starlight Motel in Waterloo. If Waterloo is too far..... - You can come to Serendipity in Iowa City and see some space pirates. Maybe even be one. Space pirates, outlaws, bounty hunters, a role- playing mystery game. Saturday 8pm-midnight, cover charge is $3. And you can get a suntan at the same time. - Elections. Co-Presidents: the two Josh's. Whichever of them shows up for the meetings will be president. Co-Co-President (and Web Guru): Marty Milder who after being elected as co-co-president, volunteered to take over the SFLIS webpage. Treasurer: Dennis Kintzman. Secretary: David Leach. SEx Coordinators: Catherine Schaff-Stump and Bryan Stump. Scapegoat Emerituses (Scapegoats Emeritus?): Mick Hitch, RC Nelson, and Alois. Scapegoat: John Maakestad. Entertainment Director: Andy Wheeler. Everyone was running unopposed. - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire won a Hugo. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon also won a Hugo. - We have a last-minute nomination for office: Jon and Michele's baby as mascot. Or will he/she be next year's president? - The Highlander 2 movie doesn't exist. Keep repeating that to yourself and maybe you'll believe it. If you think all the Highlander movies are bad, you haven't seen this one. - Prereg deadline for ICON is Sept. 17. You can do it right here at the meeting. - Extradimensional space and nobody died this week. - Our forms for being a recognized student group are due soon. We'll take care of it. - We'll be taking a few boxes of books from the SFLIS desk to the hospital sometime. - As the meeting gradually fades away, we end up with a discussion of the relative merits of Initial D, Ranma, Tenchi, and others, and what we'd like to see on tv. And don't dis Astro Boy - that's our heritage. There might be some questions about the lyrics on the next SWAMP member quiz, so start studying now.
