SFLIS Minutes - October 24, 2001 - ICON was good, fun, and it made money. - SFLIS should support Dr. Zorbo of the Supervillain Party for city council. He will use his galvonic energy to rule the city. A flyer is passed around. - A RPG cliche list is passed around. - Lord of the Rings opens Dec. 19, and we're going. Josh will be handling the line action, so you don't have to worry about camping out in front of the theater all day. He will be handling line action, but no line dancing was mentioned. We discuss ways for people to get out of finals for the day, which brings us to the next topic...... - Anthrax! What is the band doing now anyway? Who's doing it? FBI says it's probably not Bin Laden. It sounds like the kind of thing our own homegrown crazies might do. The anthrax was sent to Democrats. Somebody's also been sending racist hate mail with return addresses of Republican senators. Perhaps somebody's trying to kill the Democrats and blame it on the Republicans. It must be those radical Moderates again! Don't worry, we'll figure this whole thing out ourselves before the meeting's over. - What title would you give a porno parody of Lord of the Rings? Or would it even need a different title? - There was an anime show last weekend. At the November 4 show there's a TBA special movie: Laputa or Cowboy Bebop, and we will vote on which one to show. The Cowboy Bebop movie has a terrorist who wants to release a virus. - Masturbation scenes in anime are the same in any language (and no, you won't see any at the anime shows). - Are any SFLIS/SWAMP members interested in contributing to a big hard drive? (This has no relation to the previous sentence - really.) It looks like we'll able to get some space in a self-heating closet from ISCA to put our server in. After a few minutes of giggling over the words 'hard drive' and 'self- heating,' we were told to get our minds out of the gutter. - Let's try this again. Is anyone interested in contributing to a big hard drive that we can put in our server and put anime on it so members can download it? - Is anyone interested in a RPG equivalent of SWAMP? Or something like SMAUG (Saturday Morning And Unusual Games) that use to meet? There should be plenty of interest. We can reserve rooms, put up notices saying there will be gaming there. Probably starting next semester. Board games, role playing games, or both? Maybe some of us old-timers can teach the young'uns how to play card games. "When I was your age we didn't have to plug in our games before playing them." We have lots of games to choose from and lots of people to play them. Should we keep the name 'SMAUG?' Might get some good publicity with the popularity of Tolkein stuff right now. We'll decide later. We could call it SM? Or not. How about the name of a venerial disease? SWARM: Sflis Wing of A___ Roleplaying Maniacs. SWAG: Sflis Wing of A____ Gamers. What's a good word that starts with A? - There's a Gamicon-type meeting at Maakestad's tomorrow night. Gamicon Lite: Costs less, less filling, tastes great. Gamicon 2000 followed by Gamicon XP? Next one is Gamicon Mu. (Moo!) Guess what games they'll have there. Battle Cattle! Or anything with a barnyard theme. Behold the power of cheese! Gamicon fat free! What would the t-shirts look like? There are lots of people who want to do something around the end of February. So maybe some of them will do something. - Requisite number of hands, well-developed spine, 2 heads. No idea what this conversation is about. - Soap operas and writing for someone with no head. Soap operas meed drama so you kill as many people as you can, then they have affairs. - Josh's brain hurts. - Enterprise. Insert bugs now. Early version of Star Trek translator had bugs inserted by a former Microsoft employee. In the first 3 episodes they had a shower scene, underwear, and a dog peeing on a tree. What's next? - If Red Green was a roleplaying game, what system would it be in? - That's enough for now.
