SFLIS Minutes - May 23, 2001 - Sunday June 3, there's a Mindbridge members meeting for all who are interested in being members. Will go over ICON stuff, what it means to be a member, and other things that will be decided between now and then. In shelter #1 at City Park in Iowa City, sometime between 10am and 3pm. The goal is 11:30am. Is this above or below the water level? Who knows? Bring a floatation device just in case. One thing on the agenda is to approve the ICON concom so they can do things (like run the con). - Anime show on June 3, but it's not at City Park. 1-8pm, C107 PBAB. Last show had ok attendance and some old friends stopped by. - June 8-10 in the IMU is Summer Pif, with RPGA stuff and non-RPGA stuff. There's something going on in Cedar Rapids this weekend. What is it? Oh, it's a gaming event, but it's not open to the public, so never mind. - TrekFest in Riverside the last full weekend in June. See where Captain Kirk was conceived at Murphy's Bar and Grill. - TV/Movies: Voyager ends pretty soon. Buffy ended last night (this season, anyway), and we had a discussion of how things might turn out. Has anyone seen Farscape? Yes, and it sounds pretty good. Kight's Tale is incredibly predictable, and rock music doesn't belong in a medieval story. Don't pay for a knight, er....night showing. Go to a matinee or rent it. Shrek is pretty funny, lots of digs at Disney, jokes all the way through. Good for both kids and adults. Red Planet - blech! It's ok to laugh at because it's so bad, but don't spend a lot of money on it. Some video games have better plots than a lot of movies. Speaking of which....We're one week closer to Tomb Raider. - We have a discussion of the worst of Star Trek - Voyager, the last season of Next Generation, the Next Gen. devolution episode, and who writes the Treknobabble that's used on the shows. - Red Mars will be discussed at the next Barnes & Noble discussion group. - Have we spent all our money yet? Not yet. It's pretty hard to do, considering the small number of things we can use the blue vouchers for. We still need a clock for the SFLIS desk. - And after a while we decide to leave.
