SFLIS Minutes - May 16, 2001 - Anime Central happened last weekend. Crowded, lots of people waiting in line for the masquerade. Good costumes, though. Dealers' rooms weren't bad either. - We have a brief discussion of what's not legal in Reno. About the only think we could come up with was that you have to wear shoes in the casinos. It's harder to get cocaine now, since the government seized 13 tons of it. Or did they plant it? - One more episode of Buffy this season. She'll be fighting someone. - DemiCon happened the weekend before last. People were there. There was a consuite. No Dragonball Z in the anime room, in spite of the rumors. For children's programming, it's hard to beat what Gencon did when they showed Ninja Scroll to kids. - ICON will be at a very nice hotel this year. But we'd better pray that the wind blows in the right direction. But since it has air conditioning that works, the smells from outside might not be a problem. We'll be sharing it with a coin show and a class reunion. ICON may be a little compacted for function space this year, but there will be plenty more available later on if we stay there. - A few movies: Knight's Tale - stupid, but very entertaining. Nike swoops on the armor, and it explores the question: Can someone hold a lance when they have a 1 1/2 inch hole in their shoulder? Rumor about Paramount telling the government that they can't name any more ships 'Enterprise' because of copyright. But the government has been using the name since long before Star Trek existed. Tomb Raider comes out in June. Shrek starts today in New York and Los Angeles. Anyone want to go? It starts here on Friday. Final Fantasy will be out sometime.
