SFLIS Minutes - May 2, 2001 - The Westfield has moved to Cedar Rapids and changed their name to.... Ok, it's ICON that's moved, but the Westfield did almost float away during Gamicon. ICON will be at the Four Points Sheraton, 525 33rd Ave. SW in Cedar Rapids Oct. 12-14. Guests will include LE Modesitt and Dennis Lynch. A prototype of a flyer is finished but hasn't been copied yet. The new hotel is within walking distance of restaurants of all price ranges, and also close to a variety of smells. There will be Klingon slam dancing in the pub, and it will be open to the public. There's a class reunion next door, but we don't know what year. Management is stable, not as much turnover as other places. 24-hour pool. - Buffy is moving to UPN, Angel is staying with WB. This would be ok if there was a UPN station in the area. A discussion of recent episodes of Buffy and Angel, and of crossover shows using series from different networks. - We decide to officially start the meeting now. - Demicon in Des Moines this weekend. Anyone need a ride or a room? There might be a couple rooms left at the hotel. Harry Harrison and Tadao Tomomatsu will be there. - Talk about taking a giant Slinky to Mexico and sending it down the steps of one of the pyramids. - Anime: Last show of the semester was Sunday. First one of the summer might be May 20, or it might not be. Might be in Poppajon, or it might not be. At the next show, there will be a vote to choose the next series to go through. - Six Mile Bridge at the Mill, 6pm Thursday. - There will be a Mindbridge meeting Sunday the 13th, 7:30. - Gamicon is just about finished convincing people that they're on the concom for next year. - Game day at Legends May 12.
