A) Aliens took over Iowa City and all communications were cut off (which might explain the lack of posts in this forum lately). B) SFLIS doesn't really exist - this is all in your imagination. C) The secretary missed the meeting. - And there's not a whole lot this week either. - New Star Trek series will be set 100 years from now. - Tomb Raider opens this weekend. Maybe we should set up a time to go see it. There are Tomb Raider jokes, too. - Book discussion next Wednesday at Barnes & Noble. Red Mars - a 500 page book, lots of long sections of description where nothing much happens. - Burger King gets the toy rights to the Lord of the Rings movies. Anyone care for a Bilbo Burger? Or how about a Gandalf candy holder? And with one movie/year for the next 3 years, we should have plenty of opportunities to buy whatever they come out with. - How many megatons of colbalt bombs would it take to make the earth uninhabitable? We have a discussion of the feasability of it, how effective would a missile defense system be, and what if some nut uses it to blow up their own country in order to take out the rest of the world? We then move on to biological warfare, foot & mouth disease, and what if someone spread it deliberately. - That's about it for this week.
