What kind of clock should we get, and how should we secure it? Let's form a committee to decide who should be on the committee to do a feasability study. Sometimes if you buy a year's subscription to a magazine, they'll give you a free clock. Someone mentioned subscribing to a porn magazine - just what kind of clock are we thinking of getting? How about a sundial? The clock in a computer isn't good enough. The Apple II didn't have a clock. You had to put a disk in and run a program to calculate the time. Had a CPU clock, but no realtime clock. Etc. This was followed by a brief review of the history of clocks in computers. - What's your favorite computer error message? "Please insert the operating system." "Couldn't find keyboard - press F1 to continue." "The trust relationship between this computer and the primary domain has failed." - Some talk about kernels and how often to reboot, and processes that won't die, and handling bad memory. - Sweethearts are passed around. - How fast can you upload stuff with AT&T At Home? Computer comes with a 100 inch screen. - As the meeting ends, some people stay behind to try and work out some plans for the SFLIS/SWAMP fest.
