SFLIS Minutes - April 18, 2001 - A BMW club is meeting in our usual room, so we get moved somewhere else. - Minicon is getting smaller and smaller, and will soon live up to its name. - Marty admits to doing nothing. - Where and when to hold the next Mindbridge meeting. It didn't happen at SifCon. - And speaking of SifCon, or SifFest, or whatever. No head count, but we took three heads. Looking at it in a positive way, maybe 2/3 of the people in the IMU came to SifCon. But then the building was pretty well deserted for most of the day. Still, the people who were there had a good time. Attendance was 30 or 40? Maybe 50? Or not. - Sale on comic back issues at Daydreams. - Miscellaneous discussion of Buffy, Starship Troopers, Space-Above and Beyond, Space 90210. And what if someone made a movie out of Friday? Or Zelazney's Amber books? - Does somebody want to take over the SFLIS website? - We need the dates of summer cons and other events so the SWAMP shows can be scheduled around them. - AnimeIowa - still scheduled for Aug. 24-26. The AnimeIowa panel at SifCon went well. Don't know who all the guests will be yet. There will probably be one from Japan again. The badges will be really cool this year. Prereg deadline is sometime in July. All the info is at www.animeiowa.com - Demicon is coming up in a couple weeks. Will ICON be having a room party there? Will decide at the Mindbridge meeting Saturday. If it is Saturday. Or a Sunday/sundae barbecue? If you're going to DemiCon, make your hotel reservations soon. Guest of honor will be........someone who wrote some books. Will there be Gestapo and speakeasys for room parties like last year? - Gamicon only lost a couple hundred dollars. - Movies/TV: The Buffy thing started last night. Spy Kids - has anyone seen it? Spy Kids toys are available at McDonald's, including an actual working 110 camera. The Mummy returns DemiCon weekend. The Forsaken. Crocodile Dundee 3 (or a 4-hour commercial for the Outback?) - The Hackmaster role playing game with hysterical cover art. Defenders of the Faith game for $19.95. - The meeting is over, and since there are Mindbridge people here, a Mindbridge meeting begins.
