SFLIS Minutes - April 11, 2001 - No minutes last week because the secretary missed the meeting. If anyone who was there wants to post their fond recollections of it, go ahead! - Did everyone enjoy the tornado warning? Lots of people on the streets, on top of parking ramps, etc. looking for it. This one missed us, but other places weren't so lucky. - SifCon: Sunday the 15th, noon until whenever, maybe 10 or 11pm. Mostly 2nd floor of the IMU, but a couple rooms on 3rd, too. Lots of prizes to give away, raffle, or whatever. How about having a Peep eating contest? - Some comments about learning English from watching the Simpsons and babies saying swear words while shopping for used cars. - Next book discussion at Barnes&Noble will be S. Donaldson's 'Real Story.' - They move us to another room in the restaurant. Is this room more likely to get blown away in a tornado? The people who already were in this room get moved to our usual room. - Anime Iowa is happening this year. At the Collins Plaza hotel in Cedar Rapids. - Minicon is this weekend. DemiCon is the first weekend in May, and hotel management is expected to be friendly this year. - Weekend in Ravensbluff last weekend went really well. - TV/Movies: The next 6 weeks of Buffy and Angel will be new. There's a Buffy party Tuesday night at Maakestad's. Has anyone seen any of that new scifi crap on the Sci-fi channel? What? That's not specific enough for you? Maybe next week someone will remember the titles. - Haggis isn't that bad, but you really shouldn't eat it cold. - Until next week.....
