SFLIS Minutes - December 27, 2000

- A discussion of the pros and cons of driving in snow.  If you have deep
  snowbanks on either side to cushion you, does that mean it's safe to drive
  faster?
- Jennifer's garage door opener is broken.
- Time to order some food.  Naked pasta?  The vote is 2-1 in favor with 3
  abstaining.  The rest are not qualified to vote.
- Votes were voided in Chicago?  How did they do it?  Just black votes?  And
  how did the voting machines know?  Did they automatically discard votes by
  people who checked "Black" for their race?  Were dead people allowed to vote?
- "I am the pentium of Borg - you will be approximated."
- Naked books at Iowa Book & Supply and Barnes & Noble.
  Where do they keep the "good stuff?"
  Every box of kids' books that comes in has at least one sex book.  (Extra
  books are thrown in to use up the leftover space.)  Dr. Seuss meets Dr. Ruth.
  Sex written in a Dr. Seuss style:  "Would you do it in a box....."
  And more talk about various kinds of books.
- Notice that there's been no mention of science fiction so far (except for
  that Borg line.)
- Has anyone seen Red Planet yet?
  Fantasia 2000 is pretty good.  Has celebrity hosts and computer animation
  with an older look and feel.
  The flamingos and yoyos bit was really good, lots of fun.
- LDs, DVDs, CDs.  How's the quality on them?
  Scrambling, encoding.
  Passwords and changing them.
  Remodeling the bathroom, playing with electricity.  Wires color-coded in
  unusual ways.
- Deadline for Gamicon preregistration is Jan. 1.
