Dec 14, 2000 21:19 from Native Alien SFLIS Minutes - December 13, 2000 - No announcements this week. No mail for us for the last couple weeks. - Some talk about a video game which is a horror version of Alice in Wonderland. - Comments on the Dungeons & Dragons movie: It's really horrible, good MST3K material. Go see it. Very badly done, but good for a few laughs. There are porn movies with more plot than this. Avoid this movie. Or go see it simply because it's so bad. The movie was pretty good until the first character started speaking. - A discussion of fan websites - start out as a fun hobby, but when they become popular and have the potential to make money, people start complaining. Are these sites harming the copyright owners, or are they promoting the products? An article on the subject was passed around. - The pros and cons of eating cold pizza. When pizza cools, the fat coagulates which makes it easier to eat, since it stays in one place. Or you can scrape it off to reduce the fat content - if you're a wuss! If you reheat pizza in the microwave, the crust gets soggy. If you carefully reheat it in a regular oven, it doesn't. Then there's the intravenous pizza where they inject cheese into the crust. Has anyone tried the Tombstone dipping rings? - Nobody has seen the Dune miniseries because no one here gets the Sci-fi channel. Not sure if it's any good or not, but it should be better than the D&D movie. - Other movies: Time Bandits, Brazil, and Baron Munchausen from a trio. Time Bandits is told from a kid's point of view, Brazil is told from a middle-aged point of view, and Baron Munchausen from the point of view of an old man. What happens in the next two Star Wars movies? When does Anakin become Darth Vader? Will the movies be as dark as Lucas says they will? - People spontaneously get up to leave, so it looks like the meeting's over.
