Dec 9, 2000 11:05 from Native Alien SFLIS Minutes - December 6, 2000 - Random conversations: Distortion in digitized video displays, compressed Star Trek with Worf the Dwarf. Who wants to see Captain Janeway die? - Right now, there are no scheduled SWAMP showings at all. We're in an anime- free period. If you know of any weekends in the spring semester (January - May) when a SWAMP show shouldn't be scheduled because of other activities going on, talk to Marty. So far, we have Gamicon, Demicon, spring break, Minicon, and Anime Central. - Serendipity is an interesting place. Small internet cafe (one Mac, one PC), you can tan, drink, copy, fax, and do your laundry all at the same time. Has funky chairs and a one-armed alien. They wouldn't mind if we go there as a group sometime. - A discussion of bad crossover ideas for science fiction series. - Short book review: Islands in the Sea of Time series is pretty well-done. - Movies: 6th Day was good for a Schwartzeneggar(how do you spell it?) film. It had dialog in it, and he says "I'll be back" at least once. Godzilla 2000 isn't bad, and compares favorably with the previous one. Dungeons & Dragons opens this weekend at Coral Ridge Mall. Is anyone going? Friday, Saturday, or after the gift wrapping on Sunday? - We're wrapping at Barnes & Noble on Sunday afternoon. Come and help support Mindbridge. - There's a somewhat new Joe Haldeman book out, but nobody can remember the title. - We got into another rambling discussion and ended up talking about the Iron Giant. Weren't quite sure what this was leading to, so we decided to end the meeting before it got any worse.
