SFLIS MINUTES - MARCH 17, 1999
- There isn't much in the way of science fiction movies coming out this
summer, except for that one BIG one. An article was passed around,
about how Star Wars is displacing all other movies for the next several
months.
- We were not able to check our mail this week.
- Our April schedule is almost finished, and will soon be made into
bookmarks.
- The November Mindbridge meeting will take place on April 17, 2-5pm,
room 234 of the Clarion Hotel in Coralville.
- Later on that same day, we'll be going to Planet X to play games, do
some rock climbing, and spend money.
- Cy Con is coming up.
- Anime is enjoying the Spring Break doldrums right now - nothing going on.
Next show is March 28.
- IPTV: 9 people went from here. Lots of Maytag people were there, too.
This Friday they will be showing a couple new Red Dwarf episodes, and
a cooking show.
- New Dr. Who (sort of) is out. Four 2-minute episodes, done for Comic
Relief. They are available on the Web. The address is....
(don't have the address, but it was posted in this forum during the past
day or so.)
- Book discussion at Barnes&Noble after the meeting tonight - "First Men
in the Moon" by HG Wells.
- Cool Celtic band at the Mill at 8, if you don't want to go to the
book discussion.
- Another Star Wars trailer is on the Internet.
- Movies: Matrix comes out the first weekend in April.
- Get the beta test version of Silent Death from www.gamestorm.com
If you have a PC, that is. And if your PC isn't extremely old.
- Sci-Fi channel, Version 2.0 starts Friday. Apparently 4 hours of
original programming.
- Gaming at Chaka Con in Cedar Falls April 10.
