SFLIS MINUTES - MAY 19, 1999
- We started with a discussion of what qualifies a group to be a "student
  organization," how to keep our status.  We're ok for now, but we'd like
  to get more students involved.  We're going to try to have some info.
  about us included in the summer orientation information package.
- Mail:  We can do something on Public Access TV.  Meeting was April 14.
  But we can contact them any time if we're interested.
- We're showing Blade Runner at our movie night next month.
- Sci Fi Celebration in Cedar Rapids this weekend.  At the Crowne Plaza
  5 Seasons, with a couple actors from Star Trek.  Cost is $25.
- Cleaning our desk:  The SAC opens again on June 7, so we'll do it on an
  evening or weekend sometime after that.
  What to do with our books?  Can we sell them at a university activity?
  Yes.  Our President has a "bureaucratic wonder" for just such an occasion.
  We could also sell them at cons.
- Tonight:  a discussion of the Annotated HP Lovecraft, 7pm at Barnes&Noble.
- The Star Wars thing:  We're still going to camp outside of the theater for
  a day.  Meet at the Wyndsong 5 in Cedar Rapids at 8am Saturday.
  For those coming from Iowa City, Maakestads' house is still a good place
  to meet, even though they won't be there.
- Next Wednesday is gaming night, River Room 3 of the IMU.  It's our last
  night at that location, before we move to a "real" room.
- Anime show this Sunday, the 23rd.  2:30pm in W207 PBAB.
  "New time!  New location!  Same scantily-clad anime girls!"
  Theme is "pick the next series."
- Gamicon Lite is June 26.  They're looking for games and people to
  run them.
- AnimeIowa, ICON, Mindbridge:  no report.
- George Lucas showed up for the meeting today and said that he enjoyed
  it so much that next week he's bringing his good buddy Steven Spielberg.
  They're coming to ICON, too.
- This week's Buffy is part 2 of a 2-parter.  They're cutting scenes from
  the demon fight at the high school to make more room for commercials.
  There are lots of important things going on with Buffy's relationships.
- At least one of our members went to see Star Wars at 12:01am today.
- Come next week for cheesecake and George Lucas.
- We go to commercial.
