SFLIS Minutes
SFLIS MINUTES - NOVEMBER 18, 1998
Before the meeting, we talk about which actors should play the parts
in a live-action Scooby Doo movie.
- Nobody got the mail this week.
- Gamicon, Inc's bylaws are at www.sflis.org/gamicon/inc/
You have your choice of .doc, .html, or .txt format.
(I couldn't find a link to the bylaws anywhere, so it looks like you'll
have to type in the address yourself.)
Next week is the official vote to decide if Gamicon, Inc should be
allowed to run Gamicon.
- Submission deadline for Gamicon's LARP is Dec. 1.
Gamicon is not quite ready to make a guest of honor announcement yet.
- There are no ICON people here.
- The Iowa state Magic the Gathering championship is this Saturday at
9am at the IMU.
- There's a game day at Legends Dec. 6.
- SifCon is Feb. 6. Invitation letters to other organizations will
be going out after Christmas.
We need programming.
Bring some food to share. Gamicon will provide pizza.
If anyone wants to help plan this thing, feel free. Talk to Catherine.
- On Tuesday Dec. 15, Gamicon is wrapping at Barnes&Noble. 6-9pm.
- There's an anime show this weekend, the usual time and place - C125 PBAB
1-8pm. This show's theme: bad continuity. Or should that be 'poor
continuity'? 'low-income continuity'? We couldn't come up with a
politically correct way of saying it.
Next show after this is Dec. 6. Christmas/spoofs/Nadesico blowout.
- TV/Movies: Prince of Egypt is next weekend. Unless it's some other
time.
Nov. 25 is the last episode of Babylon 5.
Jan. 19, Batman Beyond premiers.
Enemy of the State opens this weekend.
Star Wars episode 1 trailer is available on ISCA - a 20.5 megabyte
quicktime movie. Go to
liquefy.isca.uiowa.edu/image/starwars/phantommenace
(It wasn't there when I looked, but maybe it will be later.)
The Star Wars Trivial Pursuit game is out, with 10 cards on the new
movie.
- Did anyone see any meteors last night?
- If you want a piece of the FOX network, you can buy their stock now.
- Forever War is the topic of the next Barnes&Noble SF book discussion.
Nobody at the meeting knew when it's going to be.
Last time, they had a pretty heated discussion of the Christopher
Columbus book.
- In case anyone is wondering, we ARE meeting next week.
- The end.
