SFLIS Minutes
SFLIS MINUTES - OCTOBER 7, 1998
- Mail: Clean Sweep '98 - student organizations are invited to help
clean up the campus on Oct. 17. So, if you're not going to the OTHER
activity that day...
There's a new student org. at the university - an amateur radio club.
(Somebody missspelled "Morse code.")(Did I missssssspell ameteur?)
National coming out day is Saturday Oct. 10.
We got a calendar of events for National AIDS awareness month.
- Some people are thinking of having a little get-together in about
a week and a half. Maybe get a couple hotel rooms at the Clarion-
Hampton. They've already sent out a few invitations.
And once again, they are bribing people to volunteer at ICON.
There is free stuff for people who put in enough hours. Stuff like
buttons, t-shirts, aliens. Sign up sheets were passed around.
They especially need child care volunteers.
Microcon may or may not happen this year.
- Forrest Ackerman will be at Barnes & Noble at 8 p.m. Thursday the 15th.
On that same night at 7 p.m., Charles DeLint will be at Prairie Lights.
Go see them both. Or instead of that, you could.....
- Help set up for ICON. Come to the hotel Thursday evening, have some
junk food, and help set up the dealer's room, art show, and whatever
else needs done.
- Gamicon has been cancelled due to lack of interest.
But that's never stopped them before. There's a BIG meeting Nov. 1
for anyone who's interested in doing anything big at Gamicon. Like
running something or volunteering. Time and location to be announced.
- Anime: There's a show this weekend, theme is idol singers.
The schedule for the ICON video room is being worked on. They will
probably show the entire Lodoss Wars series.
- SF film showings: Still working on it. Nobody is willing to say
whether they know what the legalities are.
- TV/Movies: Lots of stuff here.
What Dreams May Come is good. Special effects are awsome. Be sure to
look carefully at the trailers.
Antz is also good, nice computer animation.
Deep Space 9 new season premiered last Sunday. This is the last season
for it.
Xena and Hercules also premiered last Sunday. Xena at the same time
as DS9, Hercules at 1 a.m.
New season of Earth-final conflict is on KFXA.
Highlander, the Raven is very interesting.
Stargate SG-1 is on at 6 p.m. Saturdays on KCRG unless it's preempted
by football, storm warnings, or something else.
Mortal Kombat, the live action series has started. Something like
midnight on KCRG.
From Dusk Till Dawn 2 is being filmed.
Bride of Chuckie is coming soon.
Xfiles the movie will be available on video this month.
And many, many, many more.
- We're done.
