SFLIS Minutes
SFLIS MINUTES - SEPTEMBER 23, 1998
Before the meeting - a discussion of the relative merits of Barnes & Noble
vs. Praire Lights.
- Mail: We're invited to participate in this year's homecoming festivities.
The Office of Student Life is coordinating events for the Martin Luther
King human rights week, Jan. 17-23. Do we want to do anything?
We also got a Sept.-Oct. social activies calendar and two flyers for
the dance marathon.
- There's an article about Gamicon Lite in the Community News newsletter.
There's also something about it in the Press Citizen.
And just when is Gamicon Lite?
It's this Sunday, the 27th, 10 a.m. - 10 p.m., second floor of the IMU.
It's FREE, and the organizers are promising a full refund if you don't
have a good time.
- AnimeIowa: It happened. Things went very well. There were approximately
336 1/2 people there - 50% more than last year.
There was an article about it in the Advertiser two weeks ago.
Thanks to everyone who brought candy for the pig.
Ryo-Ohki is at the meeting today.
Pictures from the con will be on the web page soon.
Videos of the cosplays from this year and last year, plus P-chan's death,
will be available from Marty later.
For next year, AnimeIowa is penciled in at the Clarion-Hampton, but they're
waiting to see how ICON fares before making any commitment.
Kuni Kimura says that if we can get him a gun, he's pretty sure he can
get us Ippongi Bang as a guest next year. (Not sure if the name is
spelled correctly.)
There are plenty of t-shirts left, and they will be for sale at ICON.
- There is an anime show Sunday the 27th, 1-8 p.m., C107 PBAB, where you
can see anime that doesn't make any sense, stuff that makes people say
"What the hell IS this?"
- If you like Escaflowne, for a limited time, you can preorder the entire
series for $150 from www.AnimeVillage.com
- The Mindbridge meeting is Saturday the 26th, 3-6 p.m. in room 234 of the
Clarion Hotel.
- ICON: Forrest Ackerman will do a book signing at Barnes & Noble at
7 p.m. on Oct. 15.

people to do commercials. They meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and

about it.

Anne McCaffrey's Pern books.
And for a new Indiana Jones movie.
