SFLIS Minutes
SFLIS MINUTES - AUGUST 26, 1998
- The TICC skit tryouts/rehearsal/etc. was tonight (the 26th) at 7 p.m.
- The Student Activities Center is open again, so we're able to get
our mail.
There was a newsletter from the all-knowing, all-powerful Office of
Student Life.
Lots of announcements for beginning-of-the-year activities at the U of I.
An ad for Safewalk.
Miscellaneous flyers.
A computer catalog.
A letter about budgeting that will be forwarded to the treasurer.
- The Student Activities Fair is Wednesday Sept. 9. We're planning to have a
table there. We need someone to show up and give out information,
play games, or just sit there and watch the people go by. Is there a
possibility of having anime there? If you have any ideas, bring them to
next week's meeting, or just show up at the IMU between 1:30 and 4:30 on
the 9th.
- If we end up getting some new people interested in SFLIS, it would be a
good idea to have some kind of activity for them, like a pizza party.
- 3/4 of the Gamicon concom is here! Wow!
Gamicon Lite is Sept. 27, 10 a.m. - 10 p.m., 2nd floor of the IMU. There
will be 3 RPGA games and special guest Steve Crow.
- The Mindbridge meeting is Sept. 26 from 3-6 p.m. in room 234 of the Clarion
Hotel in Coralville.
Mindbridge gets money if you order books from Amazon through the Mindbridge
webpage.
- There is an anime show this Sunday the 30th, 1-8 p.m., room C125, Poppajohn
Business Administration Building. Nobody knows what's going to be shown.
Come and be surprised.
- There's a renissance (rennisseance, renaissance?) festival going on now,
for the next several weeks in Shakopee, Minnesota.
- TV: mostly repeats. Babylon5 is new this week, unless TNT has started
repeating their ads.
- Movies: Nobody's seen Blade yet.
Smoke Signals is at Coral Ridge Mall. It's made by Native Americans.
Pretty good, kind of unusual, with a style that in some ways resembles
Northern Exposure.
- That's it.
