SFLIS Minutes
SFLIS MINUTES - JULY 29, 1998
- We have mail! "Chris Mortika has moved" and a student job fair.
It was passed around.
- The date of the Mindbridge meeting remains undecided, but they're still
hoping to have it in September. Probably late September.
http://www.mindbridge.org There may be something at this address as
early as this weekend, but no guarantees.
- ICON will have news after the meeting that they will have after the SFLIS
meeting.
ICON is looking for suckers/volunteers. Talk to Lynda if interested.
David Teagle has volunteered to run ICON all by himself.
(Or did he?)
- There will be another Gamicon Lite on Sunday Sept. 27 at the IMU.
- Anime: There was a show Sunday. People had fun there.
On August 16 there will be an anime party/picnic at Marty's. Just go to
the location pointed to by the arrow on the satellite picture.
You can preregister for AnimeIowa for $25 until July 31. The banquet
is an additional $15. Go to Legends and give Noel money.
Work has begun on the program schedule for AnimeIowa.
- Barnes and Noble at Coral Ridge Mall is open. They have a decent SF
section. It doesn't have everything, but overall it's not bad.
- Jon Maakestad may be joining the FBI. He's taking a test for it anyway,
on Aug. 25.
- Here we had some random discussion about mysterious people in black who
come to your house and ask questions, then about the X Files, and Zorro.
- The Bab 5 movie "3rd Space" is a Lovecraft-type of story.
- The Crusade - a new series involving a spaceship called "Excalibur."
Kind of like Star Trek, but not exactly. Release date was Nov. 25, but
now it isn't.
- There's nothing else to talk about, so we're done.
