SFLIS MINUTES - JULY 8, 1998

Since there weren't very many people there at 5:30, we decided to let chaos
reign for a few minutes before starting the meeting.
A couple pre-meeting conversations - Gamicon plans and storm damage.
- Meeting is called to the opposite of chaos.
- What happened to Adopt-a-Highway?  If people are still interested, we'll
  look into it again.
- ICON:  155 prereges so far.  60+ rooms requested so far.  Confirmations
  should be sent out soon.  The hotel has set aside 140 rooms for ICON, so
  there are still plenty available.  Get your requests in now for the best
  selection.

  TICC scripts are being accepted until August 1.

  Lynda is the volunteer coordinator for ICON, and of course everyone will
  want to help out.  Valuable prizes like t-shirts and toys will be given to
  those who put in enough hours.  Sign up sheets will be available soon.
  If you have any ideas for fun stuff to do at ICON, talk to Lynda.

  ICON's LARP will be loosely based on the Immortal system.

  Is there anyone you would like to have as a guest at ICON 24?  Submit

- Notices of the first Mindgridge meeting will be sent out soon.
  The question was asked, whether a person under 12 who is a member of SFLIS
  can be a member of Mindbridge.  Looks like that's been answred now.
- This weekend:  Concussion in Omaha, Conjuration in Columbia, Mo.
  There will be an ICON room party at Concussion.
  Game day in Cedar Rapids on Saturday the 11th.
- Gamicon Lite on Saturday July 18.  10 a.m. - 10 p.m., 3rd floor of the IMU.
  With guest Gary Lange of Lange games.  It's free!
  There's also a LARP on the ped mall in downtown Iowa City on the same day.
  Meet at Great Midwestern at 1:00.  It will be very challenging, but also
  friendly to beginners.
  Gamicon Lite is still looking for people to run games.
- Anime:  Color flyers this month!  There is an anime show this Sunday
  the 12th, 1-8 p.m., C107 Poppajohn Business Adm. Bldg.  Theme is
  high school romance.
- Dean Hagland (Langley on the XFiles) is at Penguins Comedy Club in Cedar
  Rapids, Thursday-Sunday.  Anyone want to organize an expedition?  The
  show was really good when we went last year.
- Simon will try to get back here as soon as he can.  Maybe next year sometime.
  If you want any British stuff that you can't get in the U.S., mail Cope
  on ISCA.
- Movies:  Armageddon is a fun movie.  Go see it.
  Lethal Weapon 4 opens on the 10th.
  Zorro - next weekend.
- TV is all repeats except for Invasion America (Tuesday nights on WB).
