- Mail: there either wasn't any, or nobody remembered to look in our box.
- Mindbridge Foundation: Look over the info. and proposed bylaws. They can
be found at http://soli.inav.net/~penfold/bylaws.html
Dave Benhart said he would look into posting the whole thing on ISCA.
He was declared "Posting on the ISCA forum god."
Voting on this begins Wednesday June 3 and ends at the SFLIS meeting June 10.
- Invasion America, an animated SF miniseries starts June 8.
There's a new Babylon 5 this week.
There was something about anime (and animation in general) on HBO recently.
- Movies: XFiles movie starts Friday June 19. There was some talk about what
it's like waiting in line for a couple days to see a movie premier.
Godzilla - Tadao is probably in the movie, but it's hard to tell without
going through it frame by frame. Barney is in it for a few seconds.
There's a LOT of advertising scattered throughout the movie.
Godzilla is bad until you compare it to the first Godzilla. Then it's good.
Lots of plot holes, though.
The clock is still counting down the seconds until Armageddon.
- Discussion: Why the low level of intelligence in movies today?
Some theories: People don't care about plot, short attention spans.
Corporate sponsors are paying for the special effects, want to show off
the latest technology.
Movie companies don't care, as long as they make money.
- Which is better, the Hobbit or the Lord of the Rings? (the books)
Opinions: The Hobbit is easier to get through, lighter in tone.
If you want to read Tolkein, don't start with the Silmarillian.
- Trek Fest is June 26-27 in Riverside.
- ICON: They have multiple LARP submissions.
They walked through the hotel, and it looks like it will work pretty well.
There is an ICON 23 concom. They're looking for suggestions for guests.
You can write them down, send email, or fill out the form on ICON's web page.
Go to www.sflis.org and follow the links.
- Anime: Yes, SWAMP does have a room for the anime shows this summer.
They will be June 14 and 28, July 12 and 26 in C107 PBAB.
- Gamicon: The Armory has been reserved for the next Gamicon.
They're working on finding some guests for it.
Gamicon Lite is June 28, 3rd floor of the IMU.
LARP on July 18 in downtown Iowa City. They have asked the city for
permission and are waiting to see if the insurance requirement can be waived.
- A cocktail overlay from a Centipede video game was passed around.
- Simon wants to know if anyone wants anything from England that isn't
available in the U.S.
- The end.
