SFLIS MINUTES - APRIL 15, 1998

A lot of people are EARLY today!  What's going on?
- Campus mail was read and passed around.
- We got our Riverfest information.  If you want to come and help with the
  SFLIS/Gamicon tables, you're welcome.  Michele would appreciate it if you
  would let her know ahead of time so she has some idea of how many people
  to expect, and when they will be there.
  If you get there before anyone else, you can check in at the booth by
  Danforth Chapel.  They'll tell you where to go.
- We have money.  Or soon will.  We'll have all the required forms turned
  in soon.
- ICON got a LARP proposal.
  ICON has a bunch of plastic cups with the ICON logo on them.  They will
  be going to other cons in the area in the hope that people will buy some
  of them.
  ICON will be hosting a room party at DemiCon.
- Minicon happened.  There were a lot of panels on what Minicon 34 will be
  like, but there wasn't much agreement between the panelists, so we'll
  have to wait and see.
  New con in Minneapolis the weekend of July 4, 1999.  Over 400 prereg's
  already.  It will be called 'Convergence'.
- Nominations for this year's Hugo awards have been announced.

  (I printed out a copy and will bring it to next week's meeting if I
   remember.)
- Cy-Con was cool.  Very small because of the date change and something
  called Minicon, but what they had was fun.  Especially the dealers'
  tables.
- There will not be a Babylon 5 tournament at Jen Con.
  But there will be a lot of other fun stuff, and lots of prizes, many of
  which are said to have come from Legends.
  It's the weekend of April 24-26 at Cornell.
- The anime cabana at Minicon went well.  Good attendance, quite a few
  registrations for AnimeIowa.
- There was an anime show here at the same time.  Attendance was lower than
  usual (probably because of Easter and Minicon), but those who were there
  had a good time.
  SWAMP's 3rd anniversary show is April 26.  Lots of stuff will be given
  away.
- There will be Xena and Hercules collectible card games coming out in the
  next couple months.
- New Babylon 5 this week.
- Motion was made to adjourn.  It was seconded, thirded, fourthed, and fifthed.
