SFLIS MINUTES - APRIL 8, 1998
- The newspaper with the SFLIS ad in it was passed around.
- Gamicon had a meeting Sunday. They went through stuff left over from
this year's Gamicon. Some of it will be available for sale cheap next
year. (I think. My note-taking wasn't very good this time.)
- Taxes are due next week.
- Anime Central was fun and a good time.
- There's an anime show Sunday the 12th, 1-8 p.m., C107 Pappajohn, featuring
Lupin.
SWAMP will also be showing anime at Minicon this weekend - lots of sci-fi
stuff. A tenative schedule is on their web page, in the "News" section.
Go to www.sflis.org and follow the links.
- A few comments about the Lost in Space movie:
- Pretty good if you ignore the story and the acting.
- Had the feel of the tv show.
- Knocked Titanic out of the number one spot!
- Better than a weekend in prison.
- Nice special effects.
- Not bad, really.
- 100th episode of Babylon 5 this week.
- Tadao Tomomatsu will be in Godzilla, which is scheduled to come out in May.
He has a bit part in which he runs out and gets killed.
- I was told to put this in the minutes with a warning for Alois not to look.
So, Alois and Wendy, if you're reading this, you can stop now. This is the
last thing in the minutes. It doesn't concern you at all. Really.
(Pretty sneaky. I'm sure they won't have a clue as to what's going on! )
- We voted on a wedding gift for Alois and Wendy.
The gift is going to be a mirror with Star Trek designs/emblems on it.
If you want to contribute $2 or $3, give it to Steve. He'll be collecting
it at the next couple meetings.
(It's been a while since I've seen Alois's name in print. I hope I
spelled it right.)
