Where is everyone? Only 7 people here. No, make that 8. Sorry, 9. NO, 10...
- Campus mail was read and passed around. And some of the announcements were
for things that are still in the future! Wow!
- Catherine had a dissertation party at the Sanctuary, right after the meeting.
Everyone was invited to attend.
- Article in Newsweek about computer voice dictation, including science
fiction aspects of it. There's an SF group using it to teach Klingon.
- It's past the deadline for Minicon. All three of the hotels are completely
filled this year.
- Gamicon: There will be another one next year.
- ICON: Still no report.
- AnimeIowa: It will happen in September.
- Anime show this weekend. Sunday the 8th, 1-8 p.m., C107 PBAB
Theme is "Samurai anime"
- Plattecon is this weekend in Platteville, WI. Steve Crow will be running
a Babylon 5 tournament.
- Movies: Sphere - reported to have good acting, but a bad script, with
"holes in the plot large enough that you could skid a semi through
sideways."
Dark City, The Avengers (in July?), Lost in Space, Godzilla, X-Files,
Armageddon, and more.
- A dissertation on comic books has been approved and may show up at the
university library sometime.
- More movies: Martian Chronicles, Mercury Rising, Lord of the Rings, X-Men,
Star Wars episoce 1 (with a release date of May 21, 1999, maybe)
- Silence. We decide to end the meeting.
