SFLIS MINUTES - FEBRUARY 18, 1998
"The meeting is in order." Yes, somebody actually said that, but no one
believed them.
- There was a student activities fair. SFLIS had a table there, talked to a
few people, showed anime, handed out stuff.
- Introductions: What is your favorite bad movie?
- Gamicon is this weekend. Come and volunteer.
- Free program 5:30 Thursday Feb. 19 at the Iowa City public library, meeting
room C.
Juggling demo by James Ernest, talk on diceless role playing by Cathy
Klessig.
- A sci-fi and related writers group is forming. It will probably meet every
two weeks, most likely on Thursdays, location still to be decided. If
interested, call Nonie Rider 357-4995. She also said that she will put
more detailed information on ISCA when she can.
- We got mail. Student organization recognition form needs to be turned in
by Feb. 3. Oops! Nothing to worry about, though.
- There's an anime show Sunday, during Gamicon. Marty apologizes profusely.
But hey, why not clone yourself and go to both!
Anyway, the theme for the show is "Mecha! Mecha! Mecha!" and it's at the
usual time and place - C107 PBAB from 1 - 8 p.m.
Slight schedule change: Since episode 1 of Gundam X was shown last time,
episode 2 will be shown instead. Ep. 1 will be shown during the dinner
break for those who want to see it again or who missed it the first time.
- Minnicon registrations must be postmarked by Feb. 28, or it will become
very expensive.
- Gamicon is this weekend.
- DemiCon has changed hotels and guests. The writer guest of honor will be
George Alec Effinger. The hotel will be the Howard Johnson's where
DemiCon has been before, and which will change its name to the Sheraton
4 Points Hotel before this year's con. But you already know all that if
you've been reading this forum.
- A motion was made that Galen run all the meetings from now on. It was
seconded and rejected. (Remember, if you're going to vote on something
like that, you should make sure that the person in question is NOT there
to vote against it.)
- Did anyone mention that Gamicon is this weekend?
- Meeting adjourned.
