SFLIS Minutes August 20, 1997

• Hey guys, it's time for the amazing August 20 SIF notes!!!
• Sure XFiles doesn't begin on February 19. If I didn't give you guys these corrections, what would you talk about?
• Lots of ICON volunteer discussion. Volunteers may be entitled to glamourous volunteer prizes, as of yet undetermined prizes, but no doubt glamourous in the end.
• Rob (god bless 'im) has gotten Heyns to give ICON ice cream for a sundae bar that will cost $3 a patron. Proceeds go to the Iowa City Library and will be earmarked especially to add to their SF Fantasy collection. Supercon volunteers will man this generous and delicious effort.
• If you know of anyone whose address has changed, please let ICON Con Com know so they can get word to them about next ICON.
• ICON needs volunteers for consuite, registration, guest liasons, masquerade aid station, set up and strike, video volunteers, microcon, art show, SIF table and print shop, art auction, and rover. Let ConCom know.
• Icon Larp will be Vampire, run by Eric Wilkes and Jeff Huntsen (sorry about the names--not sure how to give properly spelled credits here.) More information forthcoming.
• Marty sez next Anime showing September 7 in Pappajohn C107 from the usual time to the usual time.
• Kuni can not come to AnimeIowa. We are getting Robert DeJesus.
• Anime Showings will be the first and third Sundays of the month throughout the semester. They will all be in Pappajohn.
• Friday is Steve's last day at Target. Saturday will be Steve's Target Liberation Party at Cath, Bryon, and Steve's place in Cedar Rapids. Festivities begin at 6. Please wear khaki and red, and bring something for the grill. RSVP appreciated.
• September 7 is Gamicon Lite. Come and game at the Memorial Union. Game a lot.
• No Mars party on September 13.
• Several old SIF members are moving back to the neighborhood.
• ICON 23 needs Con Com bids. If there is a bid, we vote on the committee 3 weeks after it comes forward.
• Myrna, our resident dragon lady, turns 50 this year, and we'd like to get her a special present. People who are interested in pitching in would really be appreciated.
• That's a wrap. Pretty short tonight. Pattern Ghost, in regard to the officer listings, who else would I be? But please leave it as it stands. I kind of like it.
