Godhood conferred on Simon, God of menus, and Henry, God of speed and information.
Risk tournament award was shown off.
Stephen Gould lecture was tonight.
Next Friday, Elyce is speaking at 5:15 at the Union on the role of women in science fiction. Be there or be square. Well, it's late...
This Friday is Dean Haglund of XFiles fame at Penguin's. Jon has tickets if you want them. Currently they are $10, and Penguins expects you to buy two drinks (can be pop) while you're there. If you're interested, call John ASAP at 626-3153. Dean apparently loves to sign things, so bring your autographable stuff.
Galen says we've been recommended to receive $2800 from U of I. That breaks down into roughly $1800 for Gamicon, $600 for SWAMP, and $60 a piece for office supplies and advertising.
Friday, March 14. IPT Telethon Volunteers go to Des Moines after Elyce. Meet at 7 pm at Best Western Westfield. Get in touch with Steve if you need a carpool type thing. There will be food...
Gregg announces that Icon will have t-shirts done by Kaja Folio. The only way you can get one of these puppies for sure is to sign up for one on the first registration form, coming out soon. The orders received from that form will determine the number printed, and that number will be limited, so think ahead, because you don't want to chance that the limited numbers of extras will run out!
Other Icon stuff: Unfortunately Phil won't be coming with Kaja. But we still have John Ford and Bear. So, heh, it's a pretty good deal.
Peter discussed Union vacillations with SIF con. Now our preferred date of operation is April 13, so the person who is suppposed to run the masquerade can be there. (Damn career! Gets in the way of everything!) We won't be getting the Wheel Room as it seems to cost the big bucks, but we can get some free space reserved. Excuse me, the above date should be April 13 (Damn typos! Seem to get in the way of everything!)
Peter will make up a list of suggestions for panels and try to flesh it out with volunteers next week. Watch this space!
Simon's TV stuff
--New Voyager
--Old Millenium
--Dr Who: Remembrance of the Daleks
--Mythmaker: First Tom Baker
--XFiles: Fallen Angel (Possibly a precursor for Max's return)
Simon also says Bab 5 novels are out.
Jon delivers the official talley on Gamicon. Over 300 attendees. We made a huuuge amount for next year's con $1056.61. WOW!! Michele says the biggest complaint was not enough sleep, and Jon says that some people called it Gencon on the response sheets, which he takes to be a good sign.
Marty says that last week's Anime show was also well attended, with around 40 people. Next show is March 16, and will have a Tenchi theme. AnimeIowa meetings are still chugging along. They should have a GOH nailed down soon.
Minicon is coming. It's big, really big. We'll have an Anime cabana there. Really.
Gencon is August 8-11ish, John thinks...
Reading recommendations from various and sundry..

-- Earth
-- White Wolf's Changeling Supplement
Watch out for Galen; he has an amazing number of matches.
Beginning next week after SIF meetings: Book talks. Next week, bring short stories of around 10 minute length to read. In two weeks, Genellan Planet Fall. Need a copy? Contact Jon or Michele at the above number.
Coming soon--the new Comet. We're gonna try and get a group together.
Cloning paranoia runs amuck. o Secretaries need sleep. Never take fourth year Japanese if you want to live to tell the tale. If only someone had warned me...
