This Thursday in the Daily Iowan's Eighty Hours Section there will be a one page article on the new Trek film, featuring interviews with some members of SFLIS.
And speaking of Star Trek: This Friday it comes out!!! In Iowa City, it can be viewed at the Campus Theatres. For those who wish to journey a little farther afield, in Cedar Rapids you can see it at the Stage 4 or the Collins Road theater.

There was much talk of new members at this meeting. Suggested were several ways to up SFLIS' profile to attract new blood. Some sugestions were
Conversation about SIFcon ensued. Peter Wezeman agreed to take on the challenging mantle of concom. Discussion about getting a few local guests, what we'd like to do potentially, checking out the facilities we could get at the Union, what kind of budget we would have for the con, and equal representation of SFLIS's veritable cornucopia (this month's Thanksgiving reference!)of activities filled much of the meeting. Many interesting possibilities were tossed around. It looks very much like SIF con will be a spring thing.
Some discussion about SMAUG (Saturday Morning and Unusual Gaming)suggested that perhaps the meeting time of SMAUG be changed to 11:59 to accomodate late risers. No action yet on this front, just the possibility of it.
A recurring topic of conversation was getting new blood into SIF. There's a possiblity of the return of filk singing nights if this occurs.
A cry goes out for new SIF flyers and posters. Whatever designs might be submitted, please remember that somewhere on the advertisement must be the following information from the university:
