SFLIS Meeting Minutes as scribed by Henry Olsen (who was present :)
Meeting was held 10/30/1996 in the back room of The Mill Restaurant on Burlington Street in Iowa City, IA.
Meeting called to order at 17:33.
Happy Halloween, everyone! Lynda brought candy to share with those who wanted some. Alois says he brought some candy too so there was apparently a lot of sugar highs after the meeting.
As Lynda read mail sent to SFLIS desk, the attendance/contact sheets went around. Reminder: Please keep it down while Lynda reads the mail. There were quite a few discussions going on that often trampled on Lynda's orating.
Elections.
Gamicon Info:
There was a Halloween party at Katherine's and (illegible notes)
"Last name" (sorry) on Oct 26. All went well. Dare I say that all had a
ghoulishly good time?
RocCon (sp?), Myrna's B-day and World Fantasy (have no idea,
sorry) all happen on the same weekend coming up here soon (date is ... uh
in Klingon?). Plan accordingly.
(As the group was searching for something to discuss ...) Alois announced
that he has been fixing his VW.
Ah, someone briefly mentioned there were a meteor shower and a full moon
this past week> (of the meeting) and ... wouldn't you know it? ... local
weather prohibited most of us from seeing either. (Darn!)
Reminder of B5's schedule for all you Babylonians out there. Don't forget
that we're fast approaching the end of Season III (or was it IV?).
Next Anime showing will be the 17th and as to location? TBA. More
information will be provided as our reporters assemble it.
MCON (Minneapolis CON) Reminder (although it's too late now): Nov 1 was the
final date by which you could pre-reg for this event for $25. After this
date, you must now pay the unholy sum of $30. (This is for MCON 32, right?)
There will be a pinball party at Marty's place on Saturday. (It's already
happened. Sorry.)
Does anyone have any ideas to consume or reduce in surplus the amount of
unpopped popcorn? We're a creative bunch, we should be able to collectively
think of SOME, shouldn't we?
Don't forget to check out the SFLIS web page at http://www.SFLIS.org for
any information to which there might be links.
John Johnson's been working on the ICON XXII page. Go take a look -- it's
off the SFLIS page (see above for directions).
Meeting adjourned at 18:00.
