The meeting was called to order by President Lynda Sherman.
The Daily Iowan did a write-up of SFLIS as part of their let's-do-this-for all-student-groups-one-by-one, right next to News of the Weird in Tuesday's paper.
DemiCon was cool. SWAMP's anime showing there was far better received than the DemiCon con com had anticipated, so next year they're going to rent a big-screen TV on which we can show anime all weekend long.
We need a con com for ICON 22. Start thinking about it and asking your friends and looking at your October '97 schedule, and all that. Please.
The SAC's summer hours will be from 9-5 M-F. Sheet passed for summer office hours sign-up. We're up to one, count it, one hour so far (thanks, Jon M!). We're supposed to be at 10, but I'm not sure if that counts for the summer months or not; at any rate, it's a good target. [post here if you're willing to take a regular weekly time slot of a half hour or more]
Joe Haldeman had a biking accident. He's doing all right, but apparently broke both his collarbone and his bike helmet -- thank goodness he was wearing the helmet.
Myrna "The Dragon Lady" Logan's mother had a heart attack this weekend.
There are 96 paid pre-registrations for ICON 21 so far, and there are only two unsold tables left for the huxters' room.
Whit Bissell died (Comm. Lurie in "The Trouble with Tribbles," along with many other roles in films, incl "I was a Teenage Werewolf")
The new Dr Who movie will be airing Tuesday 5/14 at 7:00 PM on Fox.
The Golden Eye is being re-released.
This Friday, the X-Files will be having a double header -- if you tape it, set your timer for two hours.
Babylon 5 is supposed to be a major new episode this weekend, in which a character who's been with the show since the very beginning will die.
Gregg is looking for suggestions on how to make a Klingon beer.
(this was announced before I started taking minutes, way back in the beginning of the meeting, so should have come far sooner) Gamicon Eta will be held at the Armory, where Gamicon has been for the past two years.
None of the officers will be able to make next week's meeting. Alois the Club Scapegoat may or may not be able to run it. Gregg will be out of town. It's looking like Jon (now aka "Our Saviour"?) will run the show next week.
Meeting Adjourned.
